The MSU Innovation Unit is a unit under Research and Innovation Division that helps students, university staff and community innovators transform their ideas into impactful, market-ready solutions aligned with Vision 2030, NDS1, Education 5.0 and the UN SDGs.

The Innovation Unit is located in Gweru at the Midlands State University Graduate School of Business Leadership Campus.

If your idea solves a real-world challenge, we welcome your submission.

Ownership, benefit sharing and revenue distribution are guided by the MSU Commercialisation Policy ensuring fairness and transparency.

No. There are no costs involved for innovators during incubation at the MSU Innovation Unit.

Timelines vary by project complexity, typically ranging from 11–24 months, covering prototyping, validation and market readiness.

To submit your innovation for support:

✅ Submit your project proposal detailing your idea and objectives.
✅ Attach a market needs assessment explaining the demand your innovation addresses.
✅ Include a venture assessment outlining commercialisation and scalability potential.
✅ Attach any publications related to your project, if available.
✅ Provide your proof of concept (prototype sketches, validation data).

Your submission is reviewed, and you will be contacted for:

Yes. All innovations are handled confidentially. We guide you through IP disclosure and protection procedures before public sharing.

Yes. We welcome industry-based and community-based innovators whose projects address national and global development priorities.

  • Email newsletters
  • Consultations during incubation
